Rain. Rain. Rain. More rain. That’s pretty much what we’ve been dealing with for 3 weeks now. Rain, rain, and more rain! It’s crazy! We’ve spent so much time indoors lately that we’re about to get to each other… We’ve found out that our living space shrinks when wet. We dash outside when we can, but sometimes the sun seems to come out while we’re napping, eating, or getting ready to go somewhere. Like right now…Beanster is napping and I’m taking advantage of the spare moments to document our lives.
We had no idea when it rained a few weeks ago that we would only have 2 days that were rain-free. Things are mighty green around here, though! The bad part is the bugs! The flies have multiplied over the past days! We don’t even notice the little gnats that used to bother us! This is an agricultural area and the gnats are bad every year. We hardly give them a passing thought now!
The good news is that we are seeing and hearing some birds we haven’t heard in a long, long time. I actually saw a bobwhite today! It flew right out in front of our car and landed in the ditch, panting heavily about how close it had come to ending its life!
Another good note is that there have been some spectacular sunsets! We pull out the camera and head down the road to see them.
It’s fun to guess what colors we will see when the clouds start to show out. They can change in a matter of 5-10 minutes. You have to be there at the right time, so it seems.
Also, the mushrooms have been growing like weeds! We’ve been seeing several varieties everywhere we go.
Also, Beanster turned 3 this year. We had a Blue Angel party, because he just loves them! We sure do miss seeing them fly, though! Due to the sequestration, they’ve been mostly grounded. They fly a few sorties, mostly one at a time or a pair, but they did fly all 6 together a couple of weeks ago. Everybody got pretty excited about it!
It was a great party with a bunch of little kids. He had a great time playing with them. We’re still not sure who had the most fun opening the presents: Beanster or his friends!
Well, I found a lesson plan book in the $1 section at Target. I had to buy 2 because it doesn’t cover the amount of time I will be schooling (but I didn’t take out for holidays, either). I’ve written out about 7 weeks worth of stuff and then I hit the wall. Haven’t been able to put another thing down on paper. I’ve only purchased a few books. The rest of them were given to me. I also plan on using a few websites for worksheets and ideas for games and fun stuff. Planning it out like that is nice, but it’s a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Actually, it’s more time-consuming than I thought it would be.
I’m ready to get started. We begin on August 5th. I have stuff printed out, the crafts are ready to go, and the field trips are in the works. We’ll see how it goes, eh?
I hope everyone has been having a great summer! Peace and love, everyone!
